Jack Grealish’s Manchester City future remains unclear as he and the club look for a resolution with loan and permanent exits on the table for the £100million man

Manchester City are prepared to loan out Jack Grealish if no permanent home can be found for the out-of-favour playmaker. The ex-Aston Villa star is tipped to seek pastures new this summer after falling down the pecking order.

Grealish cost City £100million back in 2021 and they had been looking to recoup around half of that fee. The 29-year-old has not been included in the squad that headed to the United States for the Club World Cup, furthering underlining his decline.

Those at the Etihad have been looking to land £50m to part ways with Grealish, who is earning £300,000-a-week. However if no buyers come forward then those on the blue half of Manchester will consider a loan, reports the Guardian, where they may have to foot some of his salary.

There has been reported interest from Premier League clubs and those abroad. Newcastle were linked as a possible destination whilst Antonio Conte is keen on taking Grealish to Napoli, who have just claimed the Italian title.

Grealish only scored three times last year with the majority of his appearances coming off the bench. He’s only scored 17 times across his four seasons in Manchester with the club set for wholesale changes.

Guardiola gave a passionate response after leaving out Grealish for the Fulham game on the final day. He said he was the person who “fought for him to come here and the person who fought for him to stay here this season and the next season”.

The Catalan however acknowledged that Grealish, who has two years remaining on his contract, will not be happy about his lack of minutes. He said: “It’s not [only] Jack. There is not one player in my locker room, and I think all the locker rooms around the world, that is happy [when they] do not play.

“When the team is winning and winning they have to figure out how everything happens – but they are not happy. They are here to play and, when they don’t play, they are not satisfied. That is the normal position in all the clubs.”

City have invested more than £100m already this summer as they undergo something of a rebuild – which may further hamper Grealish’s game time. They’ve landed Tijjani Reijnders from AC Milan, Wolves left-back Rayan Aït-Nouri and the winger Rayan Cherki from Lyon.
