Wesley Fofana has a history of dangerous driving and the Chelsea defender’s latest offence has resulted in a £1,062 fine and three penalty points on his already suspended license

Disgraced Chelsea defender Wesley Fofana has been branded a ‘habitual offender’ after racking up his TENTH driving offence. Fofana, 25, was due appear in court on Friday but didn’t show.

The Frenchman was slapped with a £1,062 fine and three penalty points in his latest punishment. Fofana was caught speeding at in Twickenham, West London at 1:30am on February 27, 2024.

Driving a £300,000 white Rolls Royce Cullinan, Chelsea’s £70million signing was doing 54mph in a 40mph zone, the Sun reports. Kari Williamson, prosecuting, commented: “The defendant was caught by means of an automatic camera at 1.30am in the morning driving 54mph in a 40mph zone on the A316 Chertsey Road.

“His driving record shows he is disqualified. He is a non-UK licence holder. He is disqualified until May 13, 2027 for an offence of dangerous driving.”

Fofana’s lawyer, Stephen Oldham, told the court: “He appeared before the court in May last year. He was disqualified as a totter. The offence on that occasion was dealt with by a two-year disqualification with 47 points.

“This offence occurred a couple of weeks after the most recent one. He will have to do another driving test before he gets another licence. He earns more than 200,000 a week.”

The former Leicester City centre-back lives in a luxurious seven-bedroom mansion worth £3.5million. It’s situated close to Chelsea’s Cobham training base which is in the village of Stoke d’Abernon in Surrey.

Fofana was slammed by Magistrate Alan Jefferson, who explained: “It’s obvious that he’s a habitual offender. We have taken into consideration his income and early guilty plea. His licence record will be endorsed with three penalty points.”

The fine is made up of a £666 financial penalty, a £266 surcharge and £130 court costs. Also last year, Fofana infamously ran over EastEnders star Dean Gaffney, leaving the actor with a broken collarbone.

Then in October, the 25-year-old was spared jail after pleading guilty to one count of dangerous driving. Shocking footage showed him dangerously overtaking on the hard shoulder down a motorway in Surrey, this time in a white Lamborghini Urus.

Fofana was ordered to complete 300 hours of unpaid community service while being ordered to pay £85 in costs and a £114 surcharge, as well as an 18-month driving ban – not his first. Fofana was previously banned from driving in May 2024.

He was hit with a whopping 38 points for eight speeding offences. Fofana was fined £7,569 at Lavender Hill Magistrates’ Court for those offences.

Due to persistent injury problems following his move to Stamford Bridge four years ago, Fofana normally only starts one game per week. Of Chelsea’s last six games, he’s featured in three.
