KEY POINTS

  • The Lakers are favored to bounce back when they host the Spurs in Los Angeles
  • Rui Hachimura will likely make his debut for the Lakers in the game against the Spurs
  • The Spurs will try to check their two-game slide when they visit the Lakers

The Los Angeles Lakers will be looking to bounce back from a loss to the Los Angeles Clippers when they host the San Antonio Spurs on Wednesday, January 25 at the Crypto.com Arena.

The Lakers lost badly to their crosstown rivals, 115-133, despite the 46-point effort of LeBron James.

James also had eight rebounds and seven assists in that loss.

Russell Westbrook added 17 points and five assists coming off the bench for the Lakers

“I was able to make a few shots tonight and try to help us stay in the game,” James said. “But the Clippers, they are really good. Exceptionally good when they’re shooting the 3-ball, and tonight they did that.”

The Lakers are averaging 117.1 points per game and own an offensive rating of 113.4.

On the defensive side, Los Angeles is holding down opponents to 118 points while carrying a defensive rating of 114.3.

The Lakers’ match against the Spurs could also see the debut of Rui Hachimura.

Los Angeles acquired the former top pick in a trade involving Kendrick Nunn and multiple future picks recently.

For the Spurs, the rebuilding franchise is looking to see an end to its two-game losing streak as they dropped their last outing against the Portland Trail Blazers, 127-147.

Keldon Johnson led the Spurs with 20 points and four rebounds, whereas Jeremy Sochan hauled 18 markers, six boards and four dimes.

“We’re scoring enough points, we’re not getting enough stops. A lot of credit goes to Damian tonight. He was great. He got the better of us, a great player. He’s who he is, and we couldn’t stop him,” Spurs coach Gregg Popovich stated.

The Spurs are 19th in the league in team points with 113.1 points per contest. They also hold an offensive rating of 111.

Moreover, San Antonio is surrendering 122 points per game with a defensive rating of 119.9.

The Lakers are -6.5 favorites to prevail over the Spurs, who are at +6.5.

Furthermore, the Moneyline is -286 for Los Angeles and +235 for San Antonio.

The game will be telecast over Spectrum SportsNet and via the NBA League Pass at 10:30 PM ET.
