KEY POINTS

  • The Thunder are looking to continue the mastery over the Hawks
  • The Hawks are seeking to end their two-game losing spell against the Thunder
  • The Thunder are looking for back-to-back wins against the struggling Hawks

The Oklahoma City Thunder will go for another win on Wednesday, January 25 when they face the reeling Atlanta Hawks at the Paycom Center.

The Thunder holds a 1-0 edge over the Hawks, having won in their first encounter back in December, 121-114.

Oklahoma City is fresh from a win over the Denver Nuggets, 101-99.

It was Shai Gilgeous-Alexander who lifted the Thunder over the Nuggets, banking a jumper with about 9.2 seconds remaining in the contest.

“He’s got some poise in those situations,” Thunder head coach Mark Daigneault said of Gilgeous-Alexander. “The game slows down for him. He’s got great confidence and he’s always at his pace, even in the most pressure situations.”

The Thunder are scoring 116.6 points per game and have an offensive rating of 112.7, 20th in the NBA at the moment.

On the defensive side, Oklahoma City is holding town opponents to 115.5 points per contest.

In addition, the Thunder iare19th in the league with a defensive rating of 111.7.

Meanwhile, the Hawks are looking to end their losing spell against the Thunder.

In their last assignment, they bowed to the Chicago Bulls, 100-111, unable to check DeMar DeRozan and Nikola Vucevic.

“They got two really good weapons (DeRozan and LaVine) over there and it is hard to guard a lot of guys in this league 1-on-1. So you have to use multiple guys and when you’re missing probably your best defender, it’s hard,” Trae Young stated.

Young led Atlanta with 21 points and 13 assists. Dejounte Murray backed him up with 20 markers, seven boards, and four dimes.

The Hawks are scoring 115.6 points per game, good for the 10th spot in the league right now.

They are 21st in the league with an offensive rating of 112.7.

Moreover, Atlanta is surrendering 116.2 points per game and carries a defensive rating of 113.4.

The Thunder are -1 favorites to win over the Hawks, who are at +1.

The moneyline is -110 for Oklahoma City and -110 for Atlanta.

The game will be shown via the NBA League Pass and through fuboTV at 8:00 PM ET.
