South Dakota governor Kristi Noem, who has continued to defend killing her 14-month-old dog Cricket, further suggested in an interview with CBS’s Face the Nation that Biden should take a similar tactic in dealing with his dog, Commander.
Noem said Biden should be “held accountable to” the actions of his dog, which has bitten people at least 24 times.

Noem faced widespread disgust for how she recounted killing her wirehaired pointer named Cricket after it had shown aggressive behavior and killed her neighbour’s chickens. The episode, meant to highlight her toughness and ability to handle the “difficult, messy and ugly” tasks and her honesty, has backfired and all but ended her chance at becoming presidential candidate Donald Trump’s VP pick.

Anchor Margaret Brennan asks Noem about a passage in her book that references her willingness to also kill Biden’s dog.
“At the end of the book, you say the very first thing you would do if you got to the White House, that was different from Joe Biden, is you’d make sure Joe Biden’s dog was nowhere on the grounds. ‘Commander, say hello to Cricket,’” Brennan read.
The advice was read from Noem’s upcoming book obtained by the Guardian, in which Noem describes dragging her “hated” dog to a gravel pit and shooting her. This event seemingly motivates Noem to drag a “nasty and mean” family goat to the gravel pit to shoot it dead in two shotgun blasts, returning between shots to her truck for ammo.
Commander, Noem says, “has attacked 24 Secret Service people. So how many people is enough people to be attacked and dangerously hurt before you make a decision on a dog and what to do with it? That’s the question that the president should be held accountable to.”
“You’re saying (Commander) should be shot?” Brennan asks.
“That’s what the president should be accountable to,” responds Noem.
Noem’s soon-to-be-released book “No Going Back: The Truth on What’s Wrong with Politics and How We Move America Forward,” also describes instances where she has stood up to international leaders — anecdotes that would have bolstered her foreign policy experience — but those were swiftly called into question. She writes about canceling a meeting with French President Emmanuel Macron.
After The Dakota Scout first reported Noem’s descriptions of the meetings, her spokesperson Ian Fury said that the book “has two small errors. This has been communicated to the ghostwriter and editor.”
In addition to the meeting with Kim, Fury said Noem also mistook the dates in which she spoke with former United Nations ambassador Nikki Haley.

“The book has not been released yet, and all future editions will be corrected,” Fury added.
