Opting for a relatively unknown face after Dharmendra Pradhan and Jual Oram were sworn in as central ministers, the BJP has picked Mohan Majhi as its first-ever chief minister from Odisha.
Mr Majhi will have two deputies – KV Singh Deo and Pravati Parida.
A four-time MLA, Mr Majhi is a strong tribal voice in Odisha and is known for his organisational skills. At 52, he was the youngest of the frontrunners for the post and won from the Keonjhar seat this year by a margin of 11,577 votes.
