Everyone has a bad roommate story, but not like this.
Aurora Agapov, 19, has accused her roommate, Kaitlyn Fung, 18, of stealing around US$51,000 worth of luxury items.
Agapov, whose father Andre is a Russian mining magnate with a net worth of around $75 million and ties to Russian President Vladimir Putin, discovered last month that some of her luxury possessions were missing, according to a Manhattan Supreme Court lawsuit.
Fung allegedly stole approximately $51,000 worth of Agapov’s personal belongings, including items from Gucci and Chanel, and sold them online to make a quick profit, according to the lawsuit.
The Solange Azagury 18K Ruby Ring, valued at $23,765, is one of the alleged stolen items, as per the New York Post. The heart-shaped ring was displayed on Solange Azagury’s Instagram page.

Fung was arrested on a third-degree grand larceny charge on May 2 and later released pending further legal proceedings, The New York Post reported.
Agapov, a first-year arts major at New York University (NYU), reportedly found a receipt from The RealReal in her roommate’s pocketbook that listed items the 19-year-old was missing, court papers revealed. The RealReal is a “resource for authenticated luxury resale,” according to its website.
When Agapov found out that her friend and roommate had allegedly taken her possessions and sold them online, she told the New York Post, “My heart dropped.”
“We spoke pretty much every day. I’d say we didn’t really have any falling outs or anything,” she said. “If anything, our relationship got better towards the second semester.”
Agapov is seeking US$51,000 in damages, alleging that Fung sold her stolen belongings at a ridiculously low value through The RealReal in order to make some easy money.
Fung allegedly sold a US$13,000 Bvlgari necklace for US$2,485 and a US$2,000 Chanel bracelet for only US$175.
Other valuable items included several designer handbags, such as a Celine Nano tote worth US$3,300 and a Chanel purse worth US$4,000.

Agapov also alleged that Fung stole her Gucci and Celine handbags, but these have since been returned.
Agapov immediately confronted Fung and eventually moved out of their dormitory at NYU’s Founders Hall on East 12th Street, she told The New York Post.
She described to the New York Post her attempt to recover her belongings from The RealReal’s physical store, only to learn that Fung’s mother had already retrieved them.
The New York Post reports that NYU cannot disclose disciplinary actions taken against individual students. However, spokesman John Beckman said that stealing from a roommate is “a lousy thing to do” and typically results in suspension.
