Montreal political leaders are again condemning antisemitic violence, after a Jewish-owned restaurant was damaged by what one MP said was gunshots.
Photographs of the incident showed three holes in the window of the Falafel Yoni restaurant in the city’s Mile End district. Police told the Montreal Gazette they were investigating Wednesday but were not able to confirm or deny whether the holes were caused by bullets or projectiles of any kind.

Falafel Yoni was identified recently in a social media post by anti-Israel activists who urged people to boycott businesses with Jewish owners.
“Shots fired at a Jewish owned business in Montreal that had been placed on a list of businesses circulated on social media requires us not only to condemn but to act. I call on the Montreal administration to support police in protecting Montreal’s Jewish community,” Montreal Liberal MP Anthony Housefather said on the X social media site.
Montreal city councillor Sonny Moroz said such attacks must be condemned.
“A Jewish business was targeted last night just because it is Jewish. It’s a reminder of humanity’s worst moments. I call on all governments and civil society to stop this hatred,” he said in French on X.
