Manu Bhaskaran to be appointed as non-executive and independent director while Uwe Krueger will be non-executive, non-independent director
Sembcorp Industries announced the upcoming appointment of two new non-executive directors to the board in a bourse filing on Friday (Jun 28).
Manu Bhaskaran will be appointed as non-executive and independent director of the renewable and low-carbon energy player on Jul 1 while Uwe Krueger will join the board as non-executive, non-independent director on Oct 1.
Bhaskaran is a partner of strategy and policy adviser Centennial Group and an economist with 40 years of experience in studying economic, political and security issues that shape the business environment in Asia.
The 66-year-old had held senior positions at Societe Generale’s Asian investment banking division, and also supervised a team that prepared strategic political and economic assessments of Asia for Singapore senior government officials.
Bhaskaran also sits on the boards of several companies including Japfa.
Prof Krueger, 59, is the vice-chairman for the Europe, Middle East and Africa region at Temasek, which held a 49 per cent stake in Sembcorp Industries as at end-March 2023. He was the chief executive of WS Atkins until the UK-listed company was acquired and delisted.

He holds a doctorate in physics and a graduate degree in physics and business administration from the University of Frankfurt.
Sembcorp Industries shares closed S$0.16 or 3.2 per cent lower at S$4.81 on Friday, before this announcement was made.
