Joe Rogan says he won’t come to Canada to visit because of Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and the country’s “ridiculous free speech laws.”
Rogan sat down with comedian Sam Morril on his podcast, The Joe Rogan Experience, in a two hour and 42 minute episode released on July 19. Their discussion turned to Canada near the end of the episode, when Morril joked about “whiners” from the United States threatening to move to Canada because they disagreed with American politics.

Rogan interjected, around the podcast’s 148-minute mark, saying that Canada was “worse,” citing “ridiculous free speech laws.”
“They can come down on you for a lot of things. They seized up the bank accounts for people who were protesting, the truckers. People who were donating to the truckers, they seized their bank accounts,” Rogan said.
“It’s not a good place under this administration, at least.”
Canadian truckers joined together in a series of protests against COVID mandates, dubbed the Freedom Convoy, in January 2022. The convoy eventually settled in downtown Ottawa, causing some disruptions to local residents. Truckers also formed blockades at Canada-U.S. border crossings.
In response, Trudeau invoked the Emergencies Act in February 2022. It led to the freezing of more than 200 bank accounts that were reportedly linked to making donations to the protest, per CBC News. The Rouleau Commission, put in place to investigate the decision to use the Act, found the “high threshold” to invoke it had been met. However, a Federal Court judge ruled that the decision to invoke the Act was unconstitutional in January 2024.

As the podcast continued, Rogan took more issue with Canada, saying it had gone “sideways” and wasn’t the same that it was 10 years ago. However, he added that he used to love visiting Toronto, Montreal and Vancouver.
But Canadians shouldn’t expect Rogan to be heading up north anytime soon — at least not while Trudeau is prime minister.
“Get rid of that guy, I’ll come back. I just don’t trust any of it up there,” he said.
“I think they’re so far into tyranny right now…the erosion of people’s rights. I don’t want to support it. I think it’s horrible.”
A group called Canada Proud that describes itself as “fighting for working Canadians and against the Trudeau Liberals” clipped the video of Rogan and Morril, posting it on X on Monday. They asked their followers if they thought Rogan was correct.
The video clip had been viewed almost 60,000 times by Tuesday morning.
“I don’t want to visit Canada….and I live here. It’s embarrassing,” one person replied to the video.
“Yes 1000% anyone outside of this country can see it,” wrote another.
