Olympics 2024 Archery LIVE Ranking Round: The men’s qualification event at the Paris Olympics 2024 has kicked off. India’s Dhiraj Bommadevara, Tarundeep Rai and Pravin Jadhav are in action. It has been a positive start to India’s journey at the event as the women’s archery team sealed a top four spot in event, thereby directly qualifying for the quarter-finals. Ankita Bhakat, Bhajan Kaur and Deepika Kumari all finished in the top 32. Ankita finished 11th with a score of 666, while fellow debutant Bhajan finished 22nd on 659. Deepika Kumari finished 23rd on 658 points.

Olympics Archery LIVE: Dhiraj slips
Dhiraj Bommadevara has slipped to the 36th spot after completing the throw of 12 arrows. He now has 110 points to his credit. It is same as of Pravin Jadhav, who is at a spot below his fellow teammate. The silverlining for India is that Tarundeep Rai has improved and jumped to the 16th position with 113 points.

Olympics Archery LIVE: Dhiraj at top among Indians
Dhiraj Bommadevara holds the top spot among the Indians after the throw of first six arrows. He scored 57. Overall, he is jointly at the 11th position. Pravin Jadhav is at the 30th spot with 55 points while Tarundeep Rai holds the 33rd position currently with 55 points. Both the Indians jointly hold the spot.

Olympics LIVE: Can India better its medals tally?
India has headed into the Paris Olympics 2024 aiming to better its record tally of seven medals from the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. Two medals in wrestling, one each in badminton, weightlifting and boxing, a return to silverware in men’s hockey and a glorious gold by Neeraj Chopra in javelin, were the events where India shone brightest in Tokyo. Coming into Paris, India remains strong contender in each of those areas, but may well cause a surprise in a few more events.

What a fine showing by Ankita Bhakat in her debut Olympics! She has finished as the 11th seed ahead of the main women’s individual event, racking up a score of 666 (season best). Fellow debutant 18-year-old Bhajan Kaur finished 22nd seed (659 score), while the experienced Deepika Kumari finished 23rd seed (658 score).

Olympics Archery LIVE: 60/72 arrows: India take back 4th!
India have edged four points ahead of France, with Bhajan Kaur making a leap up to 21st spot. Ankita Bhakat is on 12th, while Deepika Kumari is 28th at the moment. With all three Indians inside the top 30, a direct spot in the quarters is looking likely.

Olympics Archery LIVE: India in battle with France
India and hosts France keep swapping positions in the women’s team rankings. After 54/72 arrows, both are tied on 1482 points, but France has the all-important fourth spot due to more 10’s and X’s.
Ankita Bhakat remains in 11th, as the highest-placed Indian. She has also hit the score of 500.

Olympics Archery LIVE: 48/72 arrows: India back inside top four!
With just a third of the women’s individual ranking remaining, India returned to the top four, just one point ahead of hosts France and five ahead of Indonesia.
Ankita Bhakat remains the top-ranked Indian, in 11th spot on 445 points. Deepika Kumari has had a few good arrows, and is up to 24th.

India dropped out of the top four in the women’s team seedings, at the halfway mark of the women’s individual ranking round (36/72 arrows). Ankita Bhakat has remained the top-ranked Indian throughout, and is currently 12th on a score of 335.
18-year-old Bhajan Kaur is 23rd on 330, while the veteran Deepika Kumari is 37th on 327.
