MAS appoints Transport Minister Chee Hong Tat as deputy chair of its board

MINISTER for Transport and Second Minister for Finance Chee Hong Tat has been appointed deputy chairman of the board of directors at the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS).

MAS on Monday (Jul 29) said Chee’s appointment to the position will be for a term of two years and nine months from Aug 23, 2024 to May 31, 2027.

Chee was previously appointed to the board on Jun 1.

Other members, including Heng Swee Keat, deputy prime minister, and Alvin Tan, minister of state for trade and industry as well as culture, community and youth, were also reappointed to the board in May.

Additionally, former head of civil service Peter Ong, retired PwC partner Deborah Ong and WongPartnership managing partner Ng Wai King had also been reappointed earlier this year.

The remaining members of the board include Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Trade and Industry Gan Kim Yong, who is the board’s chairman; Chaly Mah, chairman of the audit committee; Lim Hng Kiang, special adviser at the Ministry of Trade and Industry; attorney-general Lucien Wong; and Chia Der Jiun, MAS managing director.
