East Bengal needed to register a win over Altyn Asyr in order to qualify for the group stage. However, despite taking an early lead, Altyn Asyr scored the next three goals to take a lead that would not be challenged again. East Bengal’s big city rivals Mohun Bagan, therefore, remain the only Indian side in the AFC Champions League Two.
