Ottawa Fire Services rope rescue specialists successfully rescued a man Saturday afternoon after he allegedly tried to climb the rock cliffs near the Alexandria Bridge.
In a message on X, Ottawa fire said it was alerted by Ottawa police at about 1:35 p.m. that the person was stuck on the cliff after climbing up from below the bridge towards the Samuel de Champlain statue, and confirmed the person was about five metres down the cliff and “unable to get to safety.”

“One of our rescuers was lowered by rope over the cliff and down to the resident,” Ottawa fire said in the release.
“The resident was then put into a harness by our rescuer and at (2:15 p.m.) the resident was safely brought up over the railing.”
There was no mention of injuries.
In a message Sunday afternoon, Ottawa police said they were notified at about 1:15 p.m.
Ottawa Fire Services was contacted for the “assist with safely retrieving the individual.
“The individual was safely retrieved and was issued two warnings under the Trespass to Property Act,” Ottawa police said.
