Assembly Elections 2024 Voting: Elections are underway in Haryana
Assembly Election 2024 LIVE Updates: Voting is underway in all 90 assembly constituencies of Haryana to decide the political fate of Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, Bhupinder Singh Hooda, and 1,000 other candidates contesting in the state assembly elections. Olympic wrestler Vinesh Phogat is also among the key candidates contesting on a Congress ticket. The ruling BJP is eyeing a hat-trick while the Congress is hoping to make a comeback in the state after a decade. The other key contestants are Congress, AAP, INLD, BSP, JJP and Azad Samaj Party (ASP).
Prime Minister Narendra Modi spearheaded the BJP’s campaign and addressed four rallies in Haryana, attacking the Congress over several issues. He said the Congress kept every matter important for the country entangled, including the Ram temple issue. Congress leader Rahul Gandhi also addressed several rallies in Haryana, during which he said a “Congress storm” is on its way in Haryana and his party would form the government.

Haryana recorded 49.1% turnout till 3 pm for the state assembly elections. All 90 assembly seats in the state are voting today.
Haryana Jan Sevak Party nominee from the Meham assembly constituency Balraj Kundu on Saturday alleged that former Congress MLA Anand Singh Dangi assaulted him and his personal assistant at a polling booth in Rohtak district.
With the blessings of PM Modi, great work has been done in Haryana in the last 10 years, said Union Minister Kiren Rijiju. “For 70 years, they (Congress) have made false promises. They can win a few elections here and there but will not come to power,” said Mr Rijiju on Congress’ performance in the Haryana elections.

Haryana Elections: 36.7% Voting Recorded Till 1 pm
Haryana recorded 36.7% turnout till 1 pm for the state assembly elections. All 90 assembly seats in the state are voting today.
As Haryana votes to elect its next government, Congress candidate from Karnal, Sumita Singh, alleged the BJP government did not carry out development of Karnal district and that the commoners now want a change in the government. “The Chief Minister did not bring a single project to Karnal. He was never reachable for the local public and now they want change. There is total lawlessness too in Karnal,” she told NDTV.

BJP MP from Kurukshtra, Naveen Jindal, arrived on a horse to cast his vote today. Expressing confidence in the party’s victory, he said that the people of Haryana will bless the party and the BJP will form the government in the state again. “There is a lot of enthusiasm among the people. We are very happy that they are casting their votes today and I am confident that the brave and aware people of Haryana will give their blessings to the BJP. Haryana will bless the BJP and Nayab Singh Saini will become CM again,” he said after casting his vote.
Congress candidate from Kaithal assembly seat, Aditya Surjewala says the party is fighting against hooliganism, corruption and hatred spread in the state. He adds, “I am contesting elections for the development of Kaithal and we will bring development here…I will appeal to people to vote for Congress for justice and development…”

BJP candidate from Ambala Cantt assembly seat Anil Vij confidently stated that the BJP will form the government in Haryana and hinted at the possibility of him becoming the Chief Minister, citing his seniority in the party. “The Chief Minister will be decided by the party. If the party wants me, our next meeting will be in the Chief Minister’s residence. I am the senior most in the party,” said Mr Vij.
Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini cast his vote in his native village of Mirza in Ambala for the Haryana assembly elections. Speaking to voters after casting his vote, he accused the Congress of following the policy of plundering the state by deceiving the electorate. “Congress does the politics of ‘jhooth and loot’ and the people of Haryana have understood this. They have made up their minds to bring back the BJP in Haryana for a third time,” said Mr Saini, who was among the earlycomers.
Haryana Assembly Elections: 22.7% Turnout Recorded Till 11 am In Haryana
Over 22% polling was recorded in the first four hours of voting in the Haryana assembly election on Saturday. Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, Union minister Manohar Lal Khattar, and Olympic medallist Manu Bhaker were among the early voters. Leader of Opposition in the assembly Bhupinder Singh Hooda and Congress leaders Kumari Selja and Randeep Singh Surjewala also cast their votes in the early hours of polling. Mr Saini, Mr Hooda, Olympic wrestler Vinesh Phogat, and the JJP’s Dushyant Chautala are among the top candidates. A total of 1,027 candidates are contesting the election.

Former Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar is confident of a BJP hat-trick in Haryana. Speaking to NDTV as elections are underway in the state, the senior BJP leader said his party always takes into account its budget while making promises while the Congress never does that.
