He is the brother of National Trades Union Congress secretary-general Ng Chee Meng
INDUSTRIAL conglomerate Hong Leong Asia has appointed Ng Chee Khern, the permanent secretary at the Ministry of Manpower, as a member of its board.
The 59-year-old will serve as an independent non-executive director and as a member of the board’s sustainability committee. He is the brother of National Trades Union Congress secretary-general Ng Chee Meng.
His appointment to the board takes effect on Jan 1, 2025, said Hong Leong Asia in a bourse filing on Monday (Dec 16).
Ng was the chief of Air Force between 2006 and 2009, before he resigned to join the civil service.
Before becoming permanent secretary of the Ministry of Manpower, he was the permanent secretary of the Smart Nation and Digital Government Group in the Prime Ministers’ Office between May 2017 and March 2022.
He was permanent secretary for defence development at the Ministry of Defence from May 2014 to June 2017.
Ng is also serving as director at Changi Airport Group and CapitaLand Integrated Commercial Trust.
The filing noted that he has opted to participate in an environmental, social and governance programme for directors of listed companies offered by the Singapore Institute of Directors.
