FROM Jan 1, 2025, the platform fee on ComfortDelGro’s app Zig will be adjusted by S$0.30 to S$0.50, the land transport giant announced on Tuesday (Dec 24).
Therefore, the platform fee for rides booked through the Zig, DBS PayLah! and Kris+ apps will be adjusted to a range of S$1 to S$1.20, depending on the distance travelled and waiting time.
Tommy Tan, chief executive of ComfortDelGro Taxi, said the adjustment of the platform fee will go towards the enhanced protection and welfare initiatives as part of the new Platform Workers Bill.
“This is in addition to our continuing annual investment of S$5.5 million in driver welfare and incentive schemes to build a more supportive ecosystem for our drivers.
“As the largest taxi operator in Singapore, we are committed to setting high standards for driver welfare and benefits,” he added.
The Platform Workers Bill was introduced in Parliament in August this year, with the protection for platform workers in Singapore expected to kick in from Jan 1. The new law is meant to provide more labour protection for private-hire car drivers, taxi drivers and delivery workers who rely on online matching platforms for their work.

Under the new bill, platform companies will be required to contribute more to the Central Provident Fund (CPF) accounts of younger platform workers. The higher CPF rates will be compulsory for platform workers born on or after Jan 1, 1995, and are optional for older workers.
Other ride-hailing operators such as Gojek and Tada will be raising their platform fees from Jan 1 as well.
Like ComfortDelGro, Gojek will increase its platform fee by S$0.30 to S$0.50 per trip, such that the revised platform fee will range from S$0.90 to $1.50 for every trip from Jan 1.
Meanwhile, Tada noted that it would raise its platform fee by S$0.50, before goods and services tax (GST). This means that its platform fee will go up from the current range of S$0.55 to S$0.75, to a new range of S$1.05 to S$1.25 from Jan 1, before GST.
As at 11.29 am, shares of ComfortDelGro were trading S$0.01 or 0.7 per cent lower at S$1.44.
