Richard Gere doesn’t regret saying adiós to Hollywood.
Months into the Pretty Woman star’s move to Spain with his wife Alejandra Silva, the couple shared an update on how they’re faring across the Atlantic.
“The truth is that you are seeing us in our momentum,” Richard told Elle España in an interview published Jan. 21. “We are happier than ever.”
And according to the 75-year-old, that happiness has everything to do with being in Spain. As he explained, “She, because she is at home and I because, if she is happy, I am happy.”
But while a lot has changed since they first met in 2014, the couple—who share sons Alexander, 5, and James, 4, between them, as well as Richard’s son Homer, 24, from his marriage to Carey Lowell and Alejandra’s 11-year-old son Albert from a prior marriage—can point to their relationship as a constant.
“We are like soulmates,” Alejandra explained in their joint interview. “We have the same values, we see the world in the same way and from the first moment we felt like we have known each other for a long time. And this only happens once, if it happens at all.”
