Manchester United are preparing to play Steaua Bucharest on Thursday – and Marcus Rashford is notable name missing from the travelling squad that Ruben Amorim has named ahead of the game
Marcus Rashford has been left out of Manchester United’s travelling squad again as his row with Ruben Amorim continues to dominate the headlines.
The Red Devils academy graduate has been ostracised from the squad since the Portuguese coach arrived. Rashford was axed against Manchester City on December 15 and has only featured in the squad once since then.
And he will not be handed an opportunity in United’s next outing, a Europa League clash with Romanian side Steaua Bucharest on Thursday. The club have confirmed the travelling squad that Amorim has named for the squad.
Tellingly, there was no mention of Rashford at all despite his notable absence. Indeed, it was explained why Luke Shaw and Antony were missing – the former is still recovering from an injury, while the Brazilian winger has exited the club for a loan move to Real Betis.

Amorim’s decision to leave Rashford in the UK comes after his most scathing comments so far. Speaking after the weekend’s win against Fulham, he claimed that he would prefer to field coach Jorge Vital instead of Rashford.
“It’s always the same reason: the training, the way I see a footballer should do in life,” Amorim said. “It’s every day, every detail
“If things don’t change, I will not change. It’s the same situation for every player, if you do the maximum and right things we can use every player.
“You can see on the bench we miss a bit of pace on the bench. But I would put [Man Utd goalkeeper coach Jorge] Vital before a player who doesn’t give the maximum every day.”

It has also been reported that Amorim and Rashford are no longer on speaking terms as the situation turns toxic. Rashford, 27, has three-and-a-half years remaining on his United deal.
A number of clubs including Borussia Dortmund, AC Milan and Barcelona have all been linked with the forward. But as yet, none of the trio have been able to thrash out a deal for his signature.
Following the clash with Steaua Bucharest, United will be aiming to make it back-to-back Premier League wins at the weekend. They welcome Crystal Palace to Old Trafford on Sunday afternoon.
