Grammys 2025: Shakira Says “Life Hasn’t Been Kind” One Year After Gerard Piqué Break Up
Shakira‘s past doesn’t lie.
Nearly three years after she and Gerard Piqué announced their split following 11 years together, the “Hips Don’t Lie” singer stepped out for the Grammys 2025 ceremony and got candid about how she hasn’t always had it easy—though she’s made the best of the journey. “I’ve grown a lot,” Shakira told Zuri Hall during Live From E!: Grammys Feb. 2. “I’ve learned a lot of lessons. Life hasn’t always been kind, but it’s been a good teacher.”
But even when she has experienced a difficult period, Shakira—who faced months of public fallout following her split from Gerard in June 2022—hasn’t lost sight of the powerful woman she showed the world on her 2009 album, She Wolf.
As the 48-year-old put it, “The she wolf is still here.”
And the Grammy winner—whose birthday fell on the same day she attended the award show, hosted by Trevor Noah—has plenty to be grateful for amid life’s challenges. After all, she is ringing in her 48th birthday at the biggest night in music.
