Karla, who is also up for Best Actress and who’s made history as the first openly trans actress to be nominated for an Oscar, also reacted to the milestone.
As Karla, who has since found herself involved in controversy over resurfaced tweets, wrote on Instagram at the time, “Thank you so much @theacademy @emiliaperezfilm.”
