Oscars 2025: Lizzo Shows Off Weight Transformation With BF Myke Wright at After Party
Lizzo is getting vulnerable about her mental health.
During her first concert in nearly two years, the “Truth Hurts” singer took a moment to speak out about her mental health journey during her time offstage.
“About a year and a half ago, I was in such a dark, deep depression,” Lizzo said onstage March 12 at the Wiltern in Los Angeles, as seen in a video shared to X (formerly Twitter). “I was so heartbroken by the world and so deeply hurt that I didn’t want to live anymore.”
Within days of wrapping up her Special tour in August 2023, three of the “Good as Hell” singer’s former dancers filed an ongoing lawsuit against her, accusing the 36-year-old of sexual harassment, weight-shaming and disability discrimination. A month later, her wardrobe stylist Asha Daniels filed a separate lawsuit against her, alleging racial and sexual harassment.
While the singer has since been dismissed individually from Daniels’ suit (her production company Big Grrrl Big Touring Inc remains a defendant in the ongoing case), she admitted that she felt “blindsided” by the accusations. And, in turn, she decided to take a “gap year,” during which she focused on projects that weren’t as public facing.
