Newcastle United’s hierarchy have been told to reject any offers for Alexander Isak this summer.

The Sweden international has proven to be the club’s greatest asset and scored 23 goals this term, including a crucial second goal against Liverpool in the Magpies’ Carabao Cup final win over Liverpool. And Newcastle chairman Yasir Al-Rumayyan has informed the club they should endeavour to keep his favourite player in the coming summer, per the Mail.

Al-Rumayyan is said to be adamant Isak remains at the club, with the club owners, Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment fund taking the same stance. The governor of PIF was present at Wembley on Sunday to see Isak’s goal help earn silverware and watched from the Royal Box, before joining the team at Boxpark Wembley to celebrate.

Newcastle could yet be put under pressure after Barcelona scouted the 25-year-old during the win over West Ham United. Isak’s future has been speculated upon this term with no progress over a new contract.

The former Real Sociedad star has been linked with a number of moves, including to Arsenal and Liverpool. Yet, the sharpshooter still has a deal at St James’ Park until 2028.

Talks are set for the end of the season, and Newcastle’s ability to qualify for the Champions League could go someway to informing Isak’s esires. Eddie Howe’s side League Cup victory will seem them at least in the play-off round of the Europa Conference League.

Isak has previously suggested he is not yet considering his future. “I am not really thinking about the summer yet,” he said speaking ahead of Sunday’s Carabao Cup win.

“That will be a talking point when the season is finished. No talks have been held yet.”

“I mean, that is why I came here,” he added. “I have said many times that I don’t really think too much about my future. I have said many times I am happy here and we are competing for titles which is what you want as a football player. We have been to one final and now we are in another one.

“The chances are there. We should look at it one season at a time, and this season we can win a trophy. I have said many times I am focused on doing a job. All of our focus is on Sunday and bringing a trophy back.”
