It has partnered with AI Singapore to improve growth, productivity and customer engagement worldwide

[SINGAPORE] Beer brewery company Heineken launched its first global generative artificial intelligence (GenAI) lab in Singapore on Wednesday (Mar 18) to enhance growth, productivity and customer engagement across its global operations, in collaboration with AI Singapore.

The lab serves as a “global centre of expertise” to boost AI innovation in Singapore, as well as global operations, said Kenneth Choo, Heineken’s Asia-Pacific managing director.

“By harnessing Singapore’s exceptional AI ecosystem, skilled talent and supportive government policies, we are excited to drive the development of innovative solutions that will transform the beverage industry for years to come,” he added.

The lab will lead the development of scalable GenAI solutions across several areas including systems that can autonomously solve complex problems – including automated marketing content creation and financial reporting.

AI Singapore’s AI Innovation director Laurence Liew said: “By combining Heineken’s industry expertise with our AI capabilities and talent, we are creating a powerful model for how businesses and research institutions can collaborate to create solutions with real-world impact.”

By the end of 2025, the lab aims to assemble a core team – including Heineken’s digital and technology specialists with talent recruited from AI Singapore. The team will have access to AI Singapore’s talent pool to connect with AI professionals and learn the most innovative approaches in the field.

The Economic Development Board (EDB) has welcomed the launch of the lab. Chan Ih-Ming, EDB’s executive vice-president said: “This initiative will allow Heineken to unlock new business value from Singapore, while concurrently serving as a valuable platform to level up on AI talent and capabilities.”
