Manchester United are already putting plans in place for what could become a money-spinning summer transfer window as Ruben Amorim attempts to rebuild his squad

Manchester United have had an awful season but are already putting plans in place for an improved campaign. The Red Devils currently sit 13th after some truly woeful Premier League form.

But there is still a major opportunity for United to seal a Champions League spot under Ruben Amorim should they win the Europa League. And that payday could give the club a huge financial helping hand heading into the summer transfer window.

It goes without saying that there are a few positions needing strengthening, with Amorim selecting his targets already. That could potentially see a few current stars leave Old Trafford over the coming months.

With all of that being said, take a look at the standout headlines from the red half of Manchester:

United to make £310m in sales

Manchester United could fetch over £300m this summer by selling just eight first-team stars. According to the Express, a trio of the club’s loanees could fetch a considerable amount.

Marcus Rashford could earn United £40m should he make a permanent switch to Aston Villa, while Antony and Jadon Sancho could bank the club around £65m between them. Further sales could include Casemiro and Harry Maguire, who have just a year left on their respective deals.

Andre Onana, Alejandro Garnacho and Kobbie Mainoo could all be among the players that United choose to cash-in on this summer, albeit the club are still keen to tie the latter down to a new deal.

Amorim approves Trincao move

Regarding incoming transfers, it appears that Amorim is very keen to be reunited with former Sporting Lisbon star Francisco Trincao. But it could be a costly move.

The Portuguese side are braced to lose a host of their star players this summer including Trincao and striker Viktor Gyokeres. Trincao has a £50m release clause in his contract but United may have to spend well over that.

According to The Sun, his former club Barcelona retain a 50 percent sell-on clause in any deal. Sporting want to bank around £35m for Trincao, which means they might have to sell him for around £70m.

Striker bemoans transfer failure

Former Watford striker Josh King has revealed that he was left ‘devastated’ at a failed move to Old Trafford. Speaking to NRK’s Bakrommet podcast via VG, he said: “The dream was to play for United.

“Now United are struggling with a striker. They have a Norwegian coach who is interested. Put an offer on the table, and I came there for free. And then you say no to £25m. He (Eddie Howe) said: Joshua, I won’t stand in your way, but the club wants x number of millions.”

King added: “I just sat in the jacuzzi for two or three hours waiting for the phone. I called Jim [Solbakken, his agent], who was working on that deal. And then I remember reading “Ighalo ready for United”. Then I was completely devastated. Then I was way down.”
