Former WWE wrestler Mick Foley, 59, was fortunate to escape the wreckage of his smashed-up car relatively unscathed after coming off the road in a terrifying ordeal
WWE legend Mick Foley has been hospitalised after being involved in a terrifying car crash. The 59-year-old former wrestler, who competed as Cactus Jack, Mankind and Dude Love, scared his fans by posting a photo of his ruined car on social media.
The snap showed the destroyed car with a smashed-in windscreen and a burnt-out bonnet having come off the road and ended in a field. In the background there is a fire engine, while Foley is standing next to the wreckage with his thumb pointing at the scene.
Thankfully, the man who earned a place in the WWE Hall of Fame in 2013 escaped relatively unhurt, with just minor injuries and a concussion.
He wrote on Instagram: “TOUGH DAY FOR MICK! I have no idea how I am still walking around after this accident. I’m in the hospital now, and I’m sore from my knees to my neck, including a minor concussion.”

Fellow WWE legend Kurt Angle replied: “You actually did more damage in the ring than with that car. GOD Bless you Mick.”
His fans were similarly relieved. “I heard your theme music as soon as I saw this picture. The legend lives!!!” one wrote. “Given your history, this seems like a fairly routine Tuesday. So happy you’re doing ok!” another added. A third replied: “Oh no!!!!! I’m sorry, Mick! You are tough as nails!!!”
Foley has indeed suffered a lot of injuries during his career, having been known as the face of the Hardcore Era in wrestling. He picked up three WWE titles during his time, but had to suffer for his profession, performing death-defying stunts throughout his career.
He was thrown off the top of Hell in a Cell by The Undertaker, put through a burning table by Edge and smashed in the head with a chair by The Rock in just three of his most iconic moments in the ring. Over the years, he broke five ribs, suffered eight known concussions and tore his ACL.
Foley also had his front teeth knocked out, broke his thumb, his wrist and a toe, dislocated numerous bones, needed 54 stitches in his arm and suffered second-degree burns to his arm and shoulder.
Speaking recently about the WWE Royal Rumble in 1999, when Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson smashed him over the head with a chair multiple times, Foley said: “That was a bad night, I could have been seriously hurt, so I certainly hope no one ever tries anything remotely like that.
“I was hurting. I mean, cumulatively, you just can’t take a lot of shots like that. So I have to be really careful in my everyday life. I don’t get jolted. I can’t ride rollercoasters anymore, I have an aversion to bright lights. But all things considered, I think I’m doing pretty well.”
