Bukayo Saka’s return from injury could prove vital as Mikel Arteta’s side face Real Madrid at the Emirates in the first leg of their quarter-final tie
Arsenal kick off the UEFA Champions League quarter-finals by welcoming Real Madrid to the Emirates tonight. The Gunners face the Spanish champions for only the third time in history, with each side fighting for a place in the final four.
Mikel Arteta’s side impressed in the round of 16, demolishing PSV Eindhoven 7-1 across two legs. Real Madrid were not as convincing in their second leg and were forced to secure a quarter-final spot in a penalty shootout against local rivals Atlético Madrid.
Real trailed 1-0 on the night for more than 90 minutes after Atlético’s Conor Gallagher found the net in less than 30 seconds, but ultimately won 4-2 on penalties. The competition remains Arsenal’s only chance at silverware this season with Liverpool sitting 11 points clear at the top of the Premier League.

A win after two legs will set up a semi-final against Aston Villa or Paris Saint-Germain, with those sides set to meet on Wednesday. But Arsenal will have home advantage tonight, and Bukayo Saka – who has just returned from injury – says Real ‘need to be ready’,
Speaking to Sky Sports on Monday, Saka said: “We haven’t lost a home game in the Champions League in the last two years. I’m sure they know that. They need to be ready because we’re pretty good at the Emirates.”
Unlike most Champions League fixtures, Arsenal vs Real Madrid will not be broadcast on TNT Sports, but there is a way to watch the game completely free.
