Attention has turned to the summer transfer window as Premier League clubs are preparing to make moves as they look to improve their fortunes in the 2025-26 season
With just seven matches left in the Premier League season, the remaining storylines are close to being wrapped up. It would take a significant turnaround for the title to go to anyone besides Liverpool, while Leicester and Ipswich are odds-on to join Southampton in dropping down to the Championship.
There’s still plenty to play for in Europe, though, with significant English interest in all three competitions. After Arsenal’s first leg against Real Madrid last night, Aston Villa face their own Champions League test against Paris Saint-Germain this evening.
Manchester United, Tottenham and Chelsea are all involved in European games of their own on Thursday. The deep runs from the five Premier League sides means we could see five English representatives – or more – in next season’s Champions League.
We are also drawing closer to the transfer window opening, and fans of every club may well feel they know what their respective team needs. There are also a few big-name stars who could yet follow Kevin De Bruyne in leaving the Premier League in the summer – including more than one member of Liverpool’s title-chasing squad.
We’ve got the latest on a few of those transfer deals, including some potential inter-Premier League deals. Here are Mirror Football‘s latest lines.

Chelsea reach Sancho decision
Chelsea have decided to pay £5million to Manchester United to not sign Jadon Sancho. The sum would get the Blues out of an obligation to buy thr player, under the terms of a loan deal agreed over the summer.
Former Borussia Dortmund star Sancho joined the Blues at the end of the summer transfer window on a loan-to-buy deal. He started strongly at Stamford Bridge but hasn’t delivered a goal or assist since early January.
Chelsea have been tipped to look elsewhere for reinforcements out wide. Estevao Willian is already on the way to the club, while they have also been linked with current Dortmund star Jamie Gittens.
Man City youngster ‘wants to leave’
Manchester City talent Jacob Wright is keen to stay with Norwich after a productive loan. The Canaries have an option to sign the 19-year-old for £2.3million after agreeing a mid-season loan.
“Yes, 100 per cent. I’m really starting to build something nice at the club,” Wright told The Pink Un. I’m enjoying it. It’s a good family club. I’m really enjoying the way they play. Hopefully, we can get some better results next season if I am to stay. I’d definitely like to stay, hopefully.”
Wright, an England Under-20 international midfielder, was on the bench for several of Manchester City’s Premier League and Champions League games in the first half of the season. He has featured in all but one of Norwich’s games since making his Championship debut in February.
Scholes’ Man Utd run-in
Paul Scholes hasn’t been afraid of criticising Manchester United players since his retirement in 2013. Some have taken his comments to heart, though, with one contacting Scholes directly.
“Players can be a little bit touchy these days,” the pundit said on The Overlap Fan Debate, brought to you by Sky Bet. “I had a player [currently at the club], this year, who contacted me and wasn’t happy with some of the things I’d said.
“He wanted to meet me at the training ground, and I said, ‘of course, no problem’ and gave him my number, but he never got back to me. I would have done it. If I’m saying things I believe and he wants me to explain why, it wouldn’t have been a nice conversation, but I said if they or anyone else has a problem, there’s my phone number.”
