With a little over a week to go until the British rivals go head-to-head in the ring, Eubank Sr has once again offered his verdict on the dust-up
Chris Eubank Sr has issued a desperate plea to his son as well as delivering a brutal verdict on Conor Benn‘s ability inside the ring.
Benn and Chris Eubank Jr are scheduled to go head-to-head on April 26 at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London. The pair were due to fight back in 2022, but Eubank Jr was left livid when his long-time rival failed a drugs test and the bout was scrapped just a few days before fight night.
At a launch press conference back in February, Eubank Jr was eager to try and steal the show by slapping an egg across Benn’s face during their heated face-off. The pair were separated by security – which lead to their subsequent face-off being cancelled.
As a result of his action, Eubank Jr was eventually fined £100,000 by the British Boxing Board of Control. Since then, the two stars have continued to trade barbs online. Ahead of the clash, Eubank Sr has offered his take on the upcoming showdown, and maintains it will not take place.

In a recent video uploaded to his official YouTube channel, Eubank Sr gave his thoughts on the ability of Benn after he was asked if he agreed the Brit is a better fighter than Nigel Benn was. “That makes no sense. It makes no sense because effectively over the last three years, he’s had three fights because of some type of drug accusation. Not just an accusation, he was found to have substances in his body that were illegal,” he said.
“If the fight were to happen, to have three fights in three years, and what were you before that? What did you do to make everyone say ‘well this is a brilliant fighter.’ You didn’t, you didn’t get anywhere.” Towards the back end of his answer, the 58-year-old was eager to issue a desperate plea to his son.
“You didn’t get a chance to actually get off onto your own platform and building yourself into a great fighter that I think you could have been,” the British boxing legend continued. “As my son says ‘everything is just about money dad.’ Again I say ‘help me son.’”
Despite Eubank Sr’s belief that the fight will not go ahead, it’s looking more likely his son will finally settle the score with Benn once and for all. Speaking about the domestic dust-up, Eubank Jr said: “The fight will be one of a kind. It has never happened in boxing. No two fighters have had fathers who were world champions and fought in massive fights 30-odd years ago with the entire country watching.
“Fighting me, a sworn enemy in a fight broadcast around the world that could be at Wembley in front of 90,000 people or in an arena in Saudi is a whole different animal. It will bring out a beast in him that I cannot take lightly. I think it is going to be savage, one of the best fights British boxing, world boxing has seen for quite some time because it’s real. This isn’t pretend.”
