After a thrilling Europa League success, Manchester United will aim to get back on track in the Premier League when they face Wolves on Sunday afternoon
Ruben Amorim’s Manchester United will be buoyed by their Europa League victory against Lyon as they welcome Wolves to Old Trafford on Sunday. With the Red Devils enduring what is on course to be an all-time worst Premier League points total and finish, United could be forgiven for putting all of their eggs firmly in the European basket as they bid to qualify for the Champions League next season.
However, Amorim’s men can build up some momentum with victory over Wolves on Sunday when the two sides meet at Old Trafford. Vitor Pereira’s side will be no pushovers, though, having last lost a top-flight match in February. They’ve won their last their last four fixtures and hammered Tottenham last time out, sending them packing from Molineux with a 4-2 defeat.
Despite the Premier League no longer being a priority, United will still hope to end the league season on a high, having recorded just 10 top-flight wins so far this season. Yet, fans wishing to tune into the match will be unable to watch it in the UK, though there are plenty of other fixtures for supporters to sink their teeth into.
Why is Man Utd vs Wolves not on TV in the UK?
Man Utd vs Wolves is not on TV in the UK due to United’s continued participation in the Europa League. The Red Devils faced Lyon at home on Thursday night in a clash that swung one way and the other before Amorim’s side finally prevailed 5-4 after extra time to go through 7-6 on aggregate.
Due to this fixture occurring just days prior, the match against Wolves was moved from a Saturday slot to a Sunday 2pm kick-off.
Yet, with three other matches taking place on Sunday, broadcasters Sky Sports instead have opted to select another clash for coverage, meaning that fans in the UK cannot view United and Wolves’ battle at Old Trafford.
This will change from next season, as all matches not scheduled for a 3pm kick-off on Saturday will be broadcast live in the UK due to the Premier League’s new TV deal.
Which Premier League games are on TV?
While Amorim’s side won’t be on our screens on Sunday, Sky Sports have two matches that will be broadcast live for subscribers at 2pm and 4:30pm.
Arsenal’s trip to Ipswich Town was the fixture selected instead of United’s in the 2pm slot, with the second-placed Gunners, much like the Red Devils, perhaps keeping one eye on European competition during the remainder of their six league matches.
Later on Sunday, league leaders Liverpool will be in action on Sky Sports at 4:30pm as they head to an out-of-sorts Leicester. Should Arsenal lose at Portman Road, the Reds can clinch the title with victory over the Foxes.
