Manchester United are gearing up for the summer transfer window with Bournemouth’s Antoine Semenyo among their targets as Ruben Amorim looks to bolster his forward line
Manchester United are still on cloud nine following their sensational Europa League campaign. Europe has proved to be a release for Ruben Amorim‘s side, who continued to struggle in the Premier League.
Attention switches to domestic matters this weekend with United taking on Wolves. Amorim has confessed, as the club look to make the most of their final silverware opportunity, that they may play the kids to keep their top stars fresh.
Another defeat would further dent their awful home record as Wolves look to complete the double over the Manchester outfit. An away win could yet see the Red Devils slip to as low as 16th.
Plans are being made for the summer, which will prove pivotal if Amorim is to be a success following a poor few months. His unique system requires specific players and United will have to go again in the transfer market despite potential issues over their budget – or lack of. Semenyo’s price tag
Bournemouth have slapped a £70million price tag on Antoine Semenyo as seven Premier League rivals circle over the attacker – United among them to eye the 25-year-old who the Cherries from Bristol City in 2023.

Semenyo has been pivotal for the Cherries, scoring 11 goals in all competitions so far this term, and he signed a new contract last July, which still has four more years to run. Bournemouth are set to be under intense pressure to sell this summer and the Manchester outfit are waiting in the wings with
Amorim making signing a new centre-forward his top priority for the summer window. Ipswich Town’s Liam Delap has been linked with a move to Old Trafford, but it also appears they are considering a move for Semenyo. According to Sky Sports, United are the front-runners to sign the Bournemouth star with Liverpool, Newcastle, Nottingham Forest and Tottenham also in the hunt.
Williams relishing Old Trafford chance
Athletic Bilbao star Nico Williams has admitted that every child dreams of playing at Old Trafford as he prepares to face the Manchester outfit. He will now get the chance to play at the Theatre of Dreams with the La Liga side facing the Red Devils in the last four of the Europa League.
The 22-year-old was among the goals on Thursday night as he helped his team beat Rangers 2-0 on the night to secure their spot in the semi-finals of the competition. Williams was one of the stars of Euro 2024 and will now get the chance to further his profile in Manchester.
He told reporters: “Every kid wants to play at Old Trafford. We’ll try to put our best foot forward in the first leg at San Mamés to go there with determination and show what Athletic Bilbao is all about. This tie will have no favorite. Manchester United is at the bottom of the league, but they made it clear against Olympique Lyonnais what they’re capable of with the way they handled the match.”
Gyokeres coy on next move
Viktor Gyokeres insists “no one can predict what will happen” after hitting another hat-trick. His treble saw Sporting secure a 3-1 win over Moreirense on Friday night, keeping themselves narrowly ahead in the title race, and took the Swede’s personal total for the season to 47.
Sporting have continued to offload their top players for the right fee – and Gyokeres is likely to pursue pastures new with Arsenal and United both linked with his signature. Despite that the 26-year-old has remained tight-lipped on his future and insisted that no forecasts can be made regarding his next move. He said: “No one can predict what will happen, we enjoy the moment.”
After staying put in January it was reported that the Portuguese giants were willing to sanction his exit should they receive a fee between £55m and £70m, as a show of gratitude towards the Swede. Gyokeres was asked about such an agreement but said: “I can’t say anything about that.”
