Trent Alexander-Arnold was the hero for Liverpool after coming off the bench to score in their 1-0 victory at Leicester, but his uncertain future at the club remains firmly in the spotlight
It was another weekend of drama in the Premier League, as the season begins to reach its climax. Liverpool moved a step closer to winning the title thanks to Trent Alexander-Arnold’s super-sub appearance.
His goal gave the Reds a huge 1-0 win away to Leicester, who had a much worse afternoon on Sunday. The Foxes saw their relegation confirmed after Wolves secured safety a couple of hours earlier.
Vitor Pereira’s men pulled off a 1-0 victory against Manchester United, who suffered their 15th league defeat of the season. Ruben Amorim named a much-changed XI as his priority continues to be winning the Europa League.
Arsenal had no letup after knocking holders Real Madrid out of the Champions League in midweek. The Gunners romped to a 4-0 win on the road against Ipswich to further dent the Tractor Boys’ faint hopes of survival.

Carragher urges Slot to bench Alexander-Arnold
Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher has told Arne Slot to bench Trent Alexander-Arnold, despite him winning the game for the Reds against Leicester. Carragher reckons that Slot would be better off giving more minutes to Conor Bradley in Liverpool’s last five league games, with Alexander-Arnold set to join Real Madrid on a free transfer this summer.
On Sky Sports, Carragher said: “That lad needs as much experience as he can possibly get. Yes, bring him [Trent] on as you did today if you need to go and win the game, maybe against Spurs or a couple of weeks after that. But in terms of starting games right now, if Trent hasn’t committed to the club – which he obviously hasn’t – Conor Bradley should be starting every game.”

Amorim spotted ‘tapping up’ Cunha
Manchester United fans believe that they’ve spotted boss Ruben Amorim was ‘tapping up’ rumoured transfer target Matheus Cunha as the Red Devils lost 1-0 to Wolves. Cunha, 25, won the pivotal free-kick which Pablo Sarabia scored from, as Wolves claimed their fifth successive Premier League victory.
Their Brazilian forward reportedly has a release clause of £62.5million and United are among the sides to have been linked with him. At half-time, Amorim was seen talking to Cunha while the two sets of players were going down the tunnel.

Arteta issues Saka update after ‘dangerous’ tackle
Mikel Arteta admits that he was worried when Bukayo Saka went down following a ‘dangerous’ tackle from Ipswich’s Leif Davis – but says that it’s ‘nothing too serious’ for the Arsenal star. With the Gunners 2-0 up, Davis caught Saka on the Achilles and he went down in pain before the Ipswich defender was shown a straight red card.
“He was sore but it’s nothing serious, so that’s positive,” Arteta revealed post-match. “The referee’s made a decision that it is clear. I haven’t seen the slow-motion replay, I’ve just seen the normal pace image and, yeah, he cuts him from the back. I don’t think it’s intentional at all, but it’s dangerous because he cannot really react to anything and you cannot see him coming.”
