Daniel Farke has successfully guided Leeds United back to the Premier League this season, but the club are reportedly considering a change amid concerns over his top flight record
Leeds United are reportedly considering sacking manager Daniel Farke, despite club chairman Paraag Marathe having previously insisted that they will give the former Norwich boss a chance to succeed in the Premier League.
Leeds have successfully secured promotion back to the top flight and could win the Championship title, with Farke’s side currently ahead of Burnley on goal difference with just two games left to play.
However, the Daily Mail are reporting that Leeds have ‘reservations’ over Farke’s ability to keep them up next season after his performances in the top flight with Norwich. The report states no decision has been made on his future yet, but Leeds are considering other candidates.
Marathe, though, stated after Farke was appointed that he felt the German had not been give a “fair deck of cards” during his two seasons in the Premier League with Norwich that both resulted in the Canaries being relegated.
“He did not just win the Championship twice, but dominated it twice,” Marathe said on the official Leeds United podcast. “He knows what it takes and knows the grit, fight, blood, sweat and tears it’s going to take to get through the Championship.

“Let me be clear, this is not a short-term thing either. I don’t think he had a fair deck of cards when he went back up to the Premier League (at Norwich) in his two shots at it.
“That’s one thing we are going to rectify and give him the deck of cards he needs to be successful once we get back up because I think he can be a very successful coach across Europe. This isn’t just ‘hey, get us through the Championship.’
“He has a style of play which resonates with our supporters and the players we have. It fits the players we have and he’s been known to develop youngsters. And we know we have a great crop of youngsters at the club.”
Leeds will be back in action on Monday when they host Bristol City at Elland Road, having already bettered the 93 points tally that Marcelo Bielsa’s side accrued when the club was last promoted in 2020.
“I think it’s an impressive achievement, to be on 94 points is the best points tally this club has had in any season,” Farke said after sealing promotion. “Eighty-nine goals are right up there too and still two games to play.
“It’s just more or less a reward for what the lads have done this year, outstanding consistency, we’re so hard to beat, scoring goals for fun, creating so many chances. The lads are playing really well and doing really well.
“The most important thing is the position in the league and our biggest aim is to get promoted. We will just celebrate when it’s done. What we have achieved with hard work and proper football is second to none.”
