Alexis Mac Allister claimed a Premier League winners’ medal to add to his World Cup crown over the weekend and the Argentinian midfielder had an incredibly humble reaction to his achievement
Liverpool star Alexis Mac Allister broke down in tears after winning the Premier League title. The Argentine midfielder claimed his first English crown as the Reds finally got over the line over the weekend.
The Reds dismantled Tottenham 5-1 at Anfield to put their name on the trophy – Mac Allister netting a wonderful goal to add to the rout. And after the full-time whistle, the former Brighton man had an incredibly humble reaction to his achievement.
According to ex-Liverpool star Stephen Warnock, Mac Allister was sat on the bench on his own and broke into tears – a notable reaction given he had already won a World Cup title in his career.
Speaking to Sky Sports after Liverpool ’s latest success, he said: “To win a World Cup and now a Premier League is something really special. It’s an achievement I really, really enjoy but it would not be possible without my team-mates.
“They are the most important thing for me and I am just one part of the puzzle. They are really special. This team is really, really good and last year we showed it but it wasn’t enough at the end but this time, we made a big difference. Something really special. Hopefully we can enjoy this week.”

Asked if the goal was the most memorable of his career, he added: “It was really good. I don’t think I’m going to score that one again but I think the same against Fulham, when I score a good goal, a similar one so it wasn’t bad.”
Mac Allister, 26, signed for Liverpool from Brighton in the summer of 2023 for £35m and he has gone on to score 14 goals in 93 appearances in all competitions. And the midfielder is convinced that he made the right decision to move to Anfield, while he also paid tribute to former Reds boss Jurgen Klopp.
He said: “Really, really pleased. I think it was the right decision for me. Not just because of my teammates but the club, the city is something amazing. I’m really enjoying my time here. It was the right decision and I always thank Jurgen because he was a really important part and Julian Ward as well.”

Mac Allister and his Liverpool teammates will be aiming to have a strong end to the campaign despite already having the title secured. They next take on Chelsea ahead of a clash with Arsenal.
Brighton are their penultimate opponents of the campaign, with Crystal Palace set to travel to Anfield on the final day – a game in which Liverpool will lift the trophy.
