Liverpool boss Arne Slot watched his team cap a dream first season at the helm by clinching the Premier League title with an impressive 5-1 win over Tottenham at Anfield
A jubilant Arne Slot took a moment to tip his hat to Jurgen Klopp after Liverpool won the Premier League title on Sunday. The Reds clinched a record-equalling 20th domestic title courtesy of a thumping 5-1 win over Tottenham, capping a fabulous campaign under Slot.
The Dutchman has enjoyed a fine maiden season and becomes just the fifth manager in Premier League history to win the title in his first year at the helm, following in the footsteps of Jose Mourinho, Carlo Ancelotti, Manuel Pellegrini and Antonio Conte.
Slot had the unenviable task of following Kop royalty in Jurgen Klopp. And there were some who questioned what was realistically achievable for the Reds this year after losing their inspirational leader.
Klopp showed his class by singing Slot’s name in his final act as Liverpool manager – and Slot repaid the compliment in front of the Kop in one of his first actions after becoming a Premier League champion.

“It feels great. I don’t think I want to say a lot. The only thing now is to send my appreciation to Jurgen Klopp,” Slot told Liverpool TV, before chanting “Jurgen Klopp, na, na, na, na.”
He continued: “The way we arrived on the bus, everyone was thinking there is no way we were going to lose this game. Conceding first made it difficult, but they always find a way to win.
“Incredibly proud, but not only of the players. Everyone knows what effort they’ve put in over the last few years. Everyone standing here, you [the fans] should give them a wonderful applause as well.
“Let’s forget that it’s the second Slot shows true colours with message to Klopp after Liverpool title win in 35 years, it’s the second in five years.”
