Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim cut a frustrated figure after watching his sorry team slump to a 17th Premier League defeat this season at home to West Ham
Ruben Amorim said he is “embarrassed” with Manchester United‘s league position and admitted he may not be the manager to turn them around.
United slumped to their 17th league defeat this season – the most they have suffered since they were relegated in 1974 – with Amorim admitting there are deep-rooted problems at the club. Amorim accused his players of not caring if they lose and accepted that his job will be at risk if he cannot transform United’s dismal form this season.
Asked how he felt about United’s position, Amorim said: “How a manager of Manchester United is supposed to feel in that position – embarrassed. It’s hard to accept.
“Everybody has to think seriously about a lot of things here. We have to change a lot of things at the end of the season. I’m talking about myself, I’m talking about the culture in the club and the culture in the team. I have that feeling and we need to change that.

“We need to be really strong in the summer and be brave. If the feeling is still here, then we should give space to different persons.”
Amorim also admitted he does not know if it will be in United’s best interests to beat Tottenham in the Europa League final and play in the Champions League next season.
“I don’t know what is best,” said Amorim. “If it’s playing in the Champions League or not. We need to feel that it’s the end of the world when we’re not winning a game.
“So it’s a big problem that we have here at the club. It’s a decisive moment in the history of the club and we need to address that.
“It’s a big problem because it’s mentally. We’re not scared of losing a game.
“We don’t have that fear anymore – and that is the most dangerous thing a big club can have.”
