Everton’s new stadium name has been mocked by fans as “terrible” and “the worst in the world” after revealing law firm Hill Dickinson have secured the naming rights for the their ground at Bramley-Moore Dock. The Toffees are set to play in their new arena from the start of next season and announced the sponsor on Friday evening.

But fans have taken to social media to tease the club over the choice of name, with rival supporters and even Everton fans themselves poking fun at the announcement.

One said: “Might be the worst stadium name in the world,” as another added: “You could have found a better named rights partner surely…”

A third said he would refuse to refer to the new stadium as the ‘Hill Dickson Stadium’, saying: “No idea who they are and the money will hopefully be great but nobody is calling the stadium that. Will just be Bramley Moore.”

However, one supporter said he didn’t understand the anger about the deal and said fans should be excited about the club striking such a lucrative sponsorship with a big law firm.

Another added: “As long as the deal is the BEST thing for EFC going forward, & they ARE rooted in the city (I’ve known the name throughout my working life), then we have to trust TFG.”

After announcing Hill Dickinson as their stadium sponsor, CEO Angus Kinnear said: “Welcoming Hill Dickinson as our naming rights partner is a bold and strategic step forward.
