Mo Salah has enjoyed arguably his best ever campaign in a Liverpool shirt this year but there still three things which are driving him on ahead of the 2025-26 season

Liverpool superstar Mo Salah has revealed his next three targets after committing himself to the Premier League champions. Salah, 32, finally ended hot-button speculation over his future last month by signing a new two-year deal with Liverpool.

The Egyptian’s previous contract was due to expire in June but now he can focus on preparing for the 2025-26 campaign after Liverpool wrapped up this year’s Premier League title. Salah’s sensational tally of 33 goals and 23 assists in 50 games this season has made him one of the favourites to win the Ballon d’Or.

It’s an award which the former Chelsea winger has never come close to winning. Salah finished fifth in both 2019 and 2022, sixth in 2018 and seventh in 2021.

But Salah believes that he has a ‘good chance’ of winning this year’s Ballon d’Or, admitting that his pursuit of the award used to drive him ‘crazy’. But the 32-year-old is no longer quite as obsessed and he’s prioritising winning trophies with his team-mates over individual accolades.

During an interview with Gary Neville for Sky Sports, Salah was asked what his ambitions are for the next two years, likely his final couple at Liverpool. “This year I won the Premier League and I think I never felt happier in the club for eight years like this moment in the Spurs game,” he replied.

“I really wish we win the Champions League game. I know the Premier League is always nice for the club and that’s how it should be but I would love to win the Champions League and Premier League again.”

On the prospect of winning the Ballon d’Or, Salah added: “It used to drive me crazy before. Some stuff is not in your hands so you give up in that direction. When you go to work you remind yourself what you want to achieve in the season so it drives you to work harder.

“I’d love to win it one day. But if it didn’t happen, I don’t know what to do. I’m sure there’s a good chance to win it this year, but we’ll see.”

Salah feels that Liverpool should be expected to win the league title every year rather than being considered outsiders at the start of the season like this term. “I think the expectation for us not to win, that’s a problem and I think that needed to change with the players we have and the fans behind us,” he explained.

“Liverpool losing that should be a surprise, not the other way around. There should be a limit to how many times the fans need to hear, ‘we go again next season’. To go to the last game of the season and tell them thank you, it’s the best way to do it with a big trophy.”
