Bruno Fernandes cast doubt on his future at Manchester United following the Europa League final and Saudi Pro League side Al-Hilal are interested in signing him

Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes reportedly has until next week to decide if he wants to quit Old Trafford after being offered a bumper £200million deal by Saudi Pro League side Al-Hilal.

United are set for a major overhaul this summer and Fernandes admitted after the club’s Europa League final defeat that he would understand if they decided to sell him. “If the club thinks it’s time to part ways because they want to do some cashing in or whatever, it is what it is,” he said.

“And football sometimes is like this. I have always been honest. I’ve always said I will be here until the club says to me that it’s time to go. I’m eager to do more, to be able to bring the club to the great days.

“In the day that the club thinks that I’m too much or it’s time to part ways, football is like this, you never know it. But I’ve always said it and I keep my word in the same way.”

According to a report from the Daily Mail, Al-Hilal are interested in signing the midfielder and are ready to offer United around £100m for their talisman. The report adds that a three-year deal worth £700,000-a-week and up to £65m-a-year in add-ons is on the table.

It is claimed that Al-Hilal will make a formal offer to Fernandes in the next few days and that he will be given until the end of May to make a decision, with the club keen to finalise the deal ahead of next month’s Club World Cup.

Despite United’s dreadful season, Fernandes has impressed with 38 goal contributions in 56 appearances across all competitions. As a result, United boss Ruben Amorim wants his captain to stay at Old Trafford.

“I think it is easy to understand that [transfer speculation], not just because of the numbers but the way he plays,” Amorim said earlier this month. “He is a top player and we need to top players.

“He is a leader, the captain. It is natural that people want Bruno, but we want to keep him. He is one of the top players of the world.”

However, United could be forced to cash in after their 1-0 defeat to Tottenham in the Europa League final cost the club £100m as they missed out on a spot in next season’s Champions League.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe has overseen a raft of cost-cutting measures since buying a stake in the club and United will also have to pay a £10m penalty to sponsors Adidas for missing out on the Champions League.
