Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes congratulated four of his Portugal compatriots after PSG’s Champions League triumph over Inter Milan on Saturday as speculation continues to grow over his future. Fernandes endured a difficult season for the Red Devils as he missed out on a trophy after their Europa League final defeat to Tottenham.

Meanwhile, he was helpless to stop United finishing 15th in the Premier League – despite having an impressive campaign from an individual standpoint. Fernandes scored 19 goals in all competitions and provided 16 assists and he has now been linked with an exit.

But amid rumours surrounding his future, Fernandes took time out to congratulate his Portugal team-mates Goncalo Ramos, Vitinha, Nuno Mendes and Joao Neves on winning the Champions League.

He posted a picture of the four players posing with the trophy in the dressing room on his Instagram story, along with a caption that read: “From Portugal to the world.”

Fernandes is still waiting to win the Champions League himself, suffering two heartaches on the European stage after United were beaten in the 2020-21 and 2024-25 Europa League finals.

The 30-year-old is now being tipped for the Old Trafford exit door with Saudi Arabian outfit Al-Hilal chasing him – with a £100m bid mooted.

It’s believed the Middle East outfit would be able to offer him a contract worth around £200m, which would be enough to turn any player’s head.

Reports have claimed Fernandes is “seriously considering” leaving United after their dismal campaign.

The player’s agent met with Al-Hilal chiefs last month, with talks reported to have run late into the night.

Al-Hilal have set a tight deadline on his decision because they want to sign him in time for the Club World Cup in the Unites States this summer.

United officials are said to be “relaxed” about the situation, knowing that a £100m fee would represent a significant profit on the player they bought from Sporting Lisbon in 2019 for around £68m.

Boss Ruben Amorim maintained Fernandes’ importance to the team during their post-season tour in Asia last week, saying: “He’s really important for us and really important for what we want to build with this team,” Amorim said. “We talk about this many times.

“You can see by his performances. You can see by his leadership. You can see the passion he has for the game. In difficult moments Bruno is the guy who takes responsibility. He should do because he is the captain.”
