Arsenal are among the clubs who have been linked with a move for Rodrygo but the Real Madrid forward has made it clear that he is more than happy at the Bernabeu

Rodrygo has dropped the clearest hint yet that he is poised to remain at Real Madrid after holding talks with the club’s new head, coach, Xabi Alonso..

Arsenal have been heavily linked with the talented Brazil forward, who finished the 2024-25 season out of favour. There was even speculation that the 24-year-old had played his final game for the Spanish giants after he was omitted from the Copa del Rey final by Carlo Ancelotti, who has since gone on to take up a new role with the Brazil team.

The uncertainty over Rodrygo’s future has fuelled transfer talk and Arsenal are in the market for a wide forward this summer.

But while the Gunners’ interest in Rodrygo has emerged in recent weeks, the player himself has seemingly sent a message to his potential suitors and Real Madrid via social media. The former Santos man shared a snap on social media of himself enjoying training with the caption “happy”, complete with a white heart emoji.

And Marca report that is very much the case with Rodrygo said to be ‘back on track’ after recently holding talks with Alonso, who has succeeded Ancelotti at the helm.

While Rodrygo is seemingly pleased at the prospect of kickstarting his career at the Bernabeu under Alonso, his stance will come as a major blow for Arsenal, who have earmarked the versatile forward as a top target.

The Londoners are looking to add more firepower to Mikel Arteta’s squad after finishing second in the Premier League for a third successive season with a new No.9 also on their summer wishlist.

Benjamin Sesko and Viktor Gyokeres are the two candidates to come in and lead the line and both are expected to leave their respective clubs this summer.

As well as interest in Rodrygo, who would strengthen Arsenal in the wide forward areas, the club are also said to be keen on Nico Williams and Anthony Gordon.

Williams, the Athletic Bilbao winger, is a long-term target and has other suitors across Europe, too. However, a deal for the Spain international, coupled with his salary demands, could be out of reach for Arsenal.
