With Royal Ascot around the corner our top tipster points the way to some big priced runners who could fill the coffers ahead of next week’s five-day extravaganza

Steve Jones has four selections for Saturday on ITV

EASY PEELER (3.35) is a juicy bet in the Churchill Tyres Macmillan Sprint. She’s got bags of speed and that’s just what you need on York’s straight course.

There was nothing wrong with her three runs as a juvenile last season, when she had little trouble getting off the mark at Catterick. Her runs either side, when runner-up both times, were also solid efforts and she looked to have improved over the winter months when an unlucky third at Haydock on her return to action.

She was continually blocked by traffic when trying to launch her challenge. Although she picked up well when in the clear, it was all too late.

Considering the winner, Maelstrom, is among the favourites for today’s race, she looks to have a great chance. Have 3pts each-way at 18-1. A few bookies are paying six places.

It’s hard to work out why hat-trick seeking HAVANA PUSEY (1.50) has been ignored in the betting for the opening race.

She’s done most of her racing in sprints but last month’s Goodwood win over 7f was a clear personal best from John Gallagher’s mare. That followed a Windsor defeat of subsequent winner Asinara and she is clearly thriving. This sharp 7f should be ideal. Have 1pt each-way at 16-1. Sky Bet is offering five places.

SARATOGA GOLD (2.25) is another fancy with the potential to be well handicapped. He hasn’t won for the best part of a couple of years but he took a step in the right direction when third over today’s course and distance three weeks ago.

A decent pace would play into his hands and that is entirely possible in the Queen Mother’s Cup for female amateur jockeys. Have 1pt each-way at 11-1. Plenty of firms are going four places.

URBAN SPRAWL (2.05) looks the best bet at Sandown. He took apart a small field at Lingfield last month before going too hard early on from a wide draw at Chelmsford.

With plenty of his rivals preferring softer ground, he should be hard to catch if getting into a decent rhythm in a prominent position. Have 1pt each-way at 14-1. A couple of bookies are paying four places.
