Arsenal have yet to sign a player this summer and there is plenty of work for sporting director Andre Berta to do before the Gunners can look to invest in some new faces

Arsenal could look to cash in on Gabriel Martinelli and three other stars this summer as Mikel Arteta targets a squad overhaul. The Gunners are closing in on their first signing of the summer with the addition of Real Sociedad midfielder Martin Zubimendi.

Spaniard Kepa Arrizabalaga is expected to follow him as he switches from London rivals Chelsea. But Arsenal’s plans for the transfer window are far from over.

The North London side also have a new striker on their shopping list having whittled down their options to RB Leipzig star Benjamin Sesko and Sporting Lisbon’s wantaway striker Viktor Gyokeres. Meanwhile, Mirror Football reported on Tuesday that another centre-back is also on the agenda.

Arsenal have been linked with Crystal Palace’s Marc Guehi as his future hangs in the balance but limited game time could convince the England man to look elsewhere. Finally, another winger is also among the signings that Mikel Arteta wants to complete.

Arsenal have been after an elite winger to dovetail with Bukayo Saka for some time and have been linked with Athletic Bilbao’s Nico Williams and Rodrygo of Real Madrid. All of those signings however are expected to come at a considerable cost to the Gunners, with some sales needed across the board.

Defensive duo Jakub Kiwior and Oleksandr Zinchenko would have to be offloaded to potentially fund a deal for a new centre-back. The Polish centre-back only joined from Spezia in 2023 but has struggled to establish himself in the starting XI with just 68 appearances across two-and-a-half seasons.

Meanwhile, former Manchester City star Zinchenko has slipped down the pecking order at the Emirates, with a £17m price tag being put on the Ukrainian amid reported interest from AC Milan.

A couple of wingers could also be sacrificed as Arteta targets a dramatic rebuild alongside sporting director Andrea Berta. Brazilian forward Gabriel Martinelli has reported interest from German giants Bayern Munich and could leave.

He could be joined through the exit door by Leandro Trossard, who has long-term admirers in the Saudi Pro League. Arsenal turned down bids from Al-Hilal last summer for the former Brighton man but could potentially adopt a different stance this time.

Speaking last season, Mikel Arteta sent a message to Arsenal chiefs that his squad needed work if the Gunners were to reduce the gap to Liverpool at the top of the Premier League table. He said: “Obviously we need players because the squad is really short, and on top of that we are losing four or five players that are going to end contracts, and their loans are finished.

“So, we need to be sharp. Again, very disciplined in what we want to do, and make sure that we are strong in the next season.”
