Brazil keeper Ederson has pledged his future to Manchester City and dismissed any doubts over his future as ‘fake news’. Ederson, 31, only has a year left on his current City contract and there has been strong interest from the Saudi Pro League.

But Ederson says he is determined to stay at the Etihad and help them get back to winning trophies next season. City keeper Ederson said: “My future is here. Some friends send me a lot of news but 99 percent is fake news.

“I understand you guys. You need the news to put a like on social media or rant for the news. I understand but there’s a lot of fake news around my name.

“My head is here. It stays with the city. It gives me everything to go back to the Premier League again and try to win the Champions League as well.”

That will be a huge boost for City as Ederson is one of the best keepers in the world and a key part of Pep Guardiola’s future.

City are determined to win the Club World Cup but Ederson says a Brazilian team could upset the European big boys and also warned the weather can be a huge factor as they will play Juventus in scorching temperatures in Orlando.

Ederson added: “I think the weather is more difficult for us. The weather is so hot, so hot, especially playing at 12pm or 3pm. It’s worse for us. But it’s hot for everyone.

“Of course, the Brazilian players play more in the sun. It’s different for us. Playing in England is more internal. But football is the same for everyone.

“For me it’s no surprise because the Brazilians now have a really, really good team. They play so well, they play very good. I have good investment now to buy good players and young players coming from the academy.

“But I’m so happy to see the Brazilian team play really, really good in this competition.

“But I work every day to try to win every game, to stay in the first group and go to the final. The team works to win this competition. I look at every player, focus on the training, on the games. It’s really important and good for the club.”
