Liverpool are one of just three clubs who Alexander Isak has been told he should consider joining if he decides to leave Newcastle this summer. Isak, 25, has been linked with a big-money move to Anfield, with Liverpool expected to continue splashing the cash.

Boasting their newfound status as Premier League champions, the Reds have already spent nearly £200million on three players in the first month of the summer transfer window. Florian Wirtz and Jeremie Frimpong both arrived from Bayer Leverkusen before Milos Kerkez signed from Bournemouth.

Now the Reds could bolster their forward line, with Darwin Nunez in talks to join Napoli. Should the striker leave, Isak is understood to be their dream target.

But Liverpool aren’t the only team to be linked with the Sweden international, as Arsenal and Barcelona also have him on their respective radars. Former Newcastle midfielder Jermaine Jenas has already advised Isak to narrow down his options.

Jenas began by claiming that Arsenal shouldn’t be in Isak’s thinking. “As a football club yes, it’s [Arsenal] a bigger football club than Newcastle,” he acknowledged on talkSPORT.

“But in terms of the teams that they’ve both got currently, I think that for him to leave Newcastle… If I was Alexander Isak, this phone call needs to come in from Real Madrid, or it needs to come in from Barcelona, or potentially Liverpool currently right now. I don’t think there’s any others that would tempt me that much to leave Newcastle.”

Newcastle are reportedly relaxed about Isak’s situation, with the striker under contract until June 2028. The Magpies are, though, open to handing him a new and improved long-term deal, with manager Eddie Howe already holding informal talks with Isak about his future.

The 25-year-old enjoyed his most prolific season in a black and white shirt to date last term, bagging 27 goals as Newcastle won the Carabao Cup and qualified for the Champions League. Isak is happy at St James’ Park and declared before beating Liverpool at Wembley in March: “This club can achieve great things.

“I think we should really look at it one season at a time, and this season we can achieve winning a trophy, which would be amazing for everyone. About my future, it’s nothing really I think about. I’ve said many times during a season, just focus on the job, and now is probably the worst time to think about anything else.”
