Thomas Tuchel has checked in with his England stars at the Club World Cup as well as surveying potential training bases for next summer.

Tuchel has already been to Club World Cup fixtures and has been keen to find out how the likes of Harry Kane and the England contingent at Manchester City and Chelsea have found the heat and conditions.

They have faced searing temperatures both in games and in training while in the United States as the England boss has looked to reach out with players at matches in the tournament.

It will be a big concern to the England boss also about how much holiday time the players will get after the Club World Cup so they get some rest ahead of World Cup qualifiers with Andorra and Serbia in Serbia. Plus they all have a big year ahead with next summer’s World Cup and that has been another reason for Tuchel to jet out to the States.

The England boss was always thinking he might jet back and forth as he saw Group matches before flying back to watch the under-21s win the European Championships in Slovakia.

Tuchel was also pictured at Wimbledon but said after England’s game with Senegal last month that he planned to dip in and out in the United States.

England are checking out potential training bases with a clear idea of having a pre-camp and that could be in Miami to get the players used to the heat and conditions ahead of the World Cup which is being co-hosted by America, Canada and Mexico next summer.

They are also looking at facilities in Kansas and also Dallas is a possibility, but it may also be that FIFA wants teams to travel across the country for later rounds rather than be based in one place as in previous tournaments.

Former Canada boss John Herdman told Mirror Football that it will be a hugely challenging tournament for European teams. Herdman said: “This World Cup is going to be massively challenging and having worked in North America I’ve had some experiences that I’d like to share with as many people as I can.

“Having been part of these preparations in the past, you have to prepare the players to have resilience but sometimes you want that chaos so you can actually embrace it.”
