Newcastle are facing plenty of drama when it comes to Alexander Isak and Benjamin Sesko but one of their summer signings already believes he could be better than the pair
Newcastle wonderkid Seung-soo Park believes he could be BETTER than both Kylian Mbappe and Son Heung-min. The South Korean arrived at St James’ Park earlier this summer following a switch from Suwon Samsung Bluewings.
Park has already taken part in Newcastle’s pre-season tour of Asia and has left supporters impressed. And the 18-year-old hopes to continue making an impression with Newcastle, having expressed his desire to become better than Real Madrid and France star Mbappe – and South Korea icon Son.
“There’s no one quite like me in Korea,” he said to Korea JoongAng Daily. “I watch Kaoru Mitoma and Kylian Mbappé on YouTube. One day, maybe people will call Mbappe the ‘French Park Seung-soo.”
He added: “I want to be better than Son Heung-min. I really believe I can be. I want to become a world-class player recognized by everyone, just like Son. I’m going to give it everything I’ve got so that my Premier League debut goal comes as soon as possible.
Son – who is set to leave Spurs this summer and join MLS side Los Angeles FC – has already sent his compatriot a good luck message ahead of his debut Premier League season.

Speaking after facing off with the Newcastle star in his home country, the 33-year-old said: “I didn’t say anything special to players like Yang Min-hyeok or Park Seung-soo. Since many fans are watching, I hope they become bigger players than I am.”
Newcastle will hope that Park’s assessment of his own abilities is spot on. Eddie Howe’s men are currently facing a conundrum when it comes to their attack.
Alexander Isak – who scored 27 goals in all competitions last season – has requested to leave the club amid interest from reigning champions Liverpool. He returned to the North East earlier this week after refusing to join his team-mates on a pre-season tour of Asia.

Newcastle had identified RB Leipzig star Benjamin Sesko as a potential successor to the Swedish forward. The Magpies have already lodged a bid for the Slovenian but Manchester United now appear likely to sign him over the coming weeks.
That could leave Newcastle in a tricky position when it comes to their forward options for the new season. Howe’s side open their campaign against take on Aston Villa on the opening day of the campaign but before that they take on Spanish duo Espanyol and Atletico Madrid in pre-season friendlies at St James’ Park.
