So, rather than send her management team, the “Lavender Haze” artist sent her mom Andrea Swift and brother Austin Swift.
“They told them the whole story of all the times we’ve tried to buy it, all the times it’s fallen through,” she recalled. “My mom calls me afterwards and she’s like, ‘Look, they were wonderful, they heard us out, but we have no idea which way were going to go with this.’”
Through tears, Taylor shared that she felt OK with that, sharing of her thoughts at the time, “I was like, ‘I get it, I get it, I haven’t gotten my hopes up about this in a decade.”
A couple months later—after the Super Bowl, she made sure to point out—she got the call from her mom.
“She’s like, “You got your music,’” Taylor said. “And I just very dramatically hit the floor.”
Through her words, Travis sang her lyrics, “It’s been a long time coming.”
Taylor then explained how the NFL player was the first person she told.
“I’m just balling my eyes out just like weeping,” she shared, “I’m just like, ‘I got all my music back,’ and just start absolutely heaving crying.”
“I started crying too,” Travis admitted. “I’m just so happy for you because I’ve seen how you make music, I’ve seen how you make these videos I’ve seen the effort and the focus and the strategy behind it.”
He continued, “And I’ve just been blown away that you’ve been doing this your entire life.”
