Manchester United have spent big this summer on the likes of Benjamin Sesko, Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha and there could be more new signings before the transfer window closes

Manchester United have enjoyed a busy summer so far, forking out around £200million to strengthen their attack with the signings of RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Sesko, Brentford star Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha from Wolves.

However, they have yet to pick up a victory this season and manager Ruben Amorim is under increasing pressure after United were humiliatingly knocked out of the Carabao Cup by League Two side Grimsby on Wednesday.

As a result, United may be forced to strengthen their squad further, with several players now linked with move. There are also a number of fringe stars they are hoping to offload before the transfer window slams shut.

Here, Mirror Football takes a look at all of the latest transfer news and rumours from in and around Old Trafford…

Baleba update

Manchester United are in the market for a new midfielder and Brighton star Carlos Baleba was their top target.

However, the Seagulls are demanding more than £100m for the 21-year-old and Brighton boss Fabian Hurzeler believes Baleba will not be going anywhere this summer. When asked is he is 100 per cent confident the player will stay, he replied: “Yes.

“If there is a number more than 100 – I would even say more than 100. I am confident, yes.”

Alternatives eyed

With their interest in Carlos Baleba cooling as a result of Brighton’s demands, Manchester United are weighing up moves for potential alternatives.

According to the Athletic, Crystal Palace star Adam Wharton and Sporting captain Morten Hjulmand are being considered by club chiefs. The report states that the pair are ‘admired’, but that a move for either player is not advanced at this stage.

Antony latest

Antony has dropped a hint about his future, with Real Betis currently locked in talks to re-sign the winger from Manchester United.

Antony spent the second half of last season on loan at Betis and impressed, making 14 goal contributions in 26 games across all competitions. Betis are keen to bring Antony back and reports have claimed he could re-join them on loan again.

The deal would see Betis pay a £3m loan fee, with the player then completing a permanent move for £33m next summer. And Antony appears to have addressed the situation on social media, sharing an image of a lion with the caption: “Pain makes you stronger. Fear makes you braver. Patience makes you wiser.”
