The transfer window is already shut but that does not mean that work is not still ongoing at the Emirates with the Gunners given a major decision to make over the future of one of their stars

Arsenal will be glad that the summer transfer window is firmly behind them. The Gunners were hard at work throughout the past few months bolstering Mikel Arteta ’s squad.

A number of new faces arrived at the Emirates Stadium, with work going on all the way up until Monday’s deadline. Arsenal made Bayer Leverkusen defender Piero Hincapie their final addition of the window.

He arrives on a season-long loan from the German side but is expected to become a permanent Arsenal player once the season concludes. And while Arsenal might have been looking forward to a rest during the international break, they’ve been forced to be busy once more.

Bids continue to come in for their stars, with other transfer windows remaining open, while they will be keeping an eye on their current players amid a growing injury crisis in North London.

With that being said, take a look at the latest news from the Emirates Stadium from the past 24 hours:

Arsenal receive Trossard bid

Despite the English transfer window being shut, clubs in Turkey can still do business. And it appears that Besiktas are keen on landing Arsenal’s Leandro Trossard before their respective window closes.

According to Turkish outlet Sozcu, the two clubs are in talks over a move, with Besiktas having even lodged an opening bid for Trossard’s services. It is suggested that they have tabled €22m (£19m).

A response from Arsenal is expected imminently. Trossard only signed a new deal in the summer, albeit has barely played so far this season.

Martinelli stance confirmed

Another player to have been linked with a move away was Brazilian winger Gabriel Martinelli. According to reports, Arsenal were open to selling Martinelli but no club matched their asking price.

Plenty were apparently interested, with Arsenal keen to earn around £60m from his sale. But none of the interested parties were prepared to go beyond the £40m mark, which led to him staying with the Emirates.

Martinelli’s current deal expires in 2027. He has played twice so far for Arsenal this season and is yet to score.

Walcott slams Martinelli

Staying with Martinelli, ex-Arsenal forward Theo Walcott has slammed the Brazilian for ‘messing up’ in the recent defeat to Liverpool. He said in the It’s Called Soccer podcast: “Szoboszlai wasn’t tested at all.

“You’ve got a centre-midfield player at full-back, that’s music to my ears, but not at one point did Martinelli do his strengths. If you overthink things as a winger, you mess up.”
